Your memories are precious, your story is priceless.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How would you describe your style as a photographer?
For me, weddings and elopements have always been about the moments and emotion. If you're looking for hundreds of perfectly posed photographs of your family and guests, I'm probably not your gal. If your looking for a creative storyteller, who can quietly capture your wedding day artistically, look no further. While I will take a few posed formal portraits of family, this isn't where the magic lies. I look for candid emotional connection. We will create some amazing images of you both together, but I do so by having you interact and just be with each other. Some of my couples don't want any posed photos, and that's perfectly fine by me. I will never ask you to do something that you are not comfortable with. Weddings fly by, it's my job to slow time.
I love to shoot as authentically as possible, working predominantly with natural light until you begin to bust some moves on the dance floor. I started my photography journey with film and my work reflects a film-like quality. I'm a huge fan of the the unexpected and imperfect. I love darkness and light and pushing creative boundaries. I love to tell stories through imagery and I absolutely adore rainy day weddings as much as I love chasing golden sunsets. My ideal clients are artsy, non-traditional, adventure loving, free-spirits, who love a good party. If your dress isn't a little dirty by the end of the night, you haven't truly lived.
How much do you charge?
Every wedding and client is different. Wedding coverage begins at $5,000. Elopements begin at $2,500. Most clients invest between $6,000 and $10,000 for their wedding coverage and collection. Coverage is billed in two separate payments, additional payment plans can be arranged. All collections include post processing, high resolution images, print release, online viewing gallery to share with your family and friends. Prints can be ordered directly from your gallery. All coverage can be customized. For my complete pricing guide, please contact me.
How many photos will we receive?
While every wedding is different, you can expect between 70-100 edited photos per hour booked. Typically a gallery for an eight hour wedding will be approximately 800 photos. Families, couples and portrait galleries will have about 100 edited photos. Final images are delivered via email in an online gallery.
Can we book a Saturday Elopement?
During my Prime wedding season May-November, Saturday dates are reserved for couples booking five or more hours of coverage. Saturday elopements and intimate weddings begin at $4,000. Some couples opt for a full day elopement with an engagement session. Other couples book eight hours of intimate wedding coverage and split time over two days, at multiple locations- the skies the limit. Special pricing is available to Sparrow Maine couples booking weekday or Sunday elopements/weddings or dates in the Spring and Winter, please get in touch for a customized quote.
How do we book you?
Please use the contact form to inquire about your date. Sessions and weddings are booked with a signed contract and a nonrefundable booking fee, on a first come, first served basis. A non-refundable booking fee will be due at the signing of your contract, applied to your final balance. Planning an amazing Maine wedding or elopement? I'd love for you to get to know me and see if I'm the right photographer for you. I typically set up a zoom call for all my inquiring couples. I want you to think of me as an old friend by the time your wedding arrives.
How many hours of coverage do we need?
Every wedding and elopement is unique, your coverage should be too. Small weddings of 20 or less guests may need less hours of coverage. I have a minimum booking of three hours for elopements/weddings. Full day wedding coverage truly tells the entire story of your day. Eight hours is great for a big event but sometimes elopements may require the same amount of coverage, especially if we plan to shoot in multiple locations. Sometimes I get asked to cover entire wedding weekends. I create coverage tailored to the unique needs of every couple and their vision. I do not book 3 hour elopements/ small weddings on Saturdays between May - December.
Do you have a second photographer?
As an artist, I shoot elopements and weddings on my own. This allows me complete creative control. If a wedding is a full day I may occasionally bring an assistant, who helps me with my gear, but they do not shoot with me. That being said, there are some instances where a second photographer makes sense. Weddings at multiple locations with guest lists of 250+ may warrant another photographer. Let's discuss what works best for your needs. Second shooters can be added to your coverage for $800.
Do you retouch photos?
One of the most beautiful aspects of photography is capturing authenticity. My final editing process calls for adjustments to the tone and color of a photograph only. Galleries include some black and white photos as well. As a photographer, it's my job to document reality in all it's beauty and imperfection. In a world of Instagram filters and airbrushing, I think we have forgotten how to see our own authentic beauty and light. I do not alter size, weight or shape and do not retouch skin or clothing. On occasion, with my artistic direction, I may remove a blemish, bug bite, etc. from a closeup portrait, if I find it distracting, but this is not done on every photograph and it's not done with every client.
How long does it take to get our photos?
Good things come to those who wait, I promise. Depending on the size of the wedding collection, final wedding galleries are delivered via email in 8-10 weeks. Wedding sneak peeks of 10-20 photos are sent within 24 hours. Lifestyle sessions are delivered in 4-5 weeks. Winter weddings will be delivered in 5-6 weeks. I encourage all my clients to promptly download and save their wedding galleries. Galleries and download rights can also be shared with your family and friends.
Can we do an engagement session?
Yes, in fact, I encourage it! Engagement sessions are a great opportunity to get to know each other and develop a level of comfort that will help you feel even more relaxed on your wedding day. Both my six and eight hour wedding options include a complimentary one hour engagement session with online gallery and digital files. For all other elopements and weddings, engagements can be added to your coverage for $600.
Can we print our photos?
Yes, I absolutely want you to print your photos. You may order fine art prints and framed art directly from your online gallery, or make your prints anywhere with your high resolution digital files. When you order prints with me you are getting the best color and heirloom, archival prints that will last the test of time. I can't say the same for other print providers.
Can you recommend a location for our elopement?
I'm happy to help you brainstorm some amazing elopement locations and even point you in the right direction for vendors if needed.
What time of day should we have our ceremony?
I'm a huge fan of dreamy light. The best time for a ceremony will always be 1-3 hours before sunset. If you are planning on a ceremony with a water view, try to find a ceremony spot where the sun will be facing directly behind your head. Sometimes the best location for your ceremony is more about standing in light the is flattering and less about the 'view'. Try to avoid ceremony locations with spotted light or directly facing the sun. Don't plan your ceremony between the hours of 11 AM and 2PM, you'll thank me later.
Do you photograph families?
Yes, I love capturing families. As a motherhood and family lifestyle photographer, I photograph families outdoors, in natural environments and even inside your own home. I do not pose newborns or place your child in props. Instead, I document the love and emotional connections within your family and the beautiful reality of motherhood.
Do you travel for weddings?
Are you planning a destination elopement or wedding? I'd love to come along. Destination weddings and elopements outside of Maine and New England begin at $7,000, travel included. If you are planning a wedding in England, Ireland or Scotland, please reach out about exclusive pricing.
Do you travel for family sessions?
I do not typically work with families outside of Maine, and prefer to shoot at locations within an hours drive of my home in North Yarmouth, Maine. Many of my families come to Maine on Vacation. If you are planning a trip and would love to have your family documented while you're here, please reach out.
When does our coverage begin?
The time it takes for me to travel to your wedding is entirely separate from your hours of coverage. I'll work with you to determine your best start time and assist you and your wedding coordinator with your timeline. Typically I like to plan for an hour before the ceremony, but again, this depends on many factors.
What happens if it's raining on our wedding day?
Some of my favorite weddings have been in pouring rain. If it's raining we will embrace the day, alter what we can, and we will get a little wet, but I promise you, the photos will be amazing! I have clear dome umbrellas for you. If rain is in the forecast for a scheduled portrait session, I'll reach out to see if you'd like to reschedule. Some couples choose to shoot portraits in the rain, because it's just so romantic. If that's you, I'm up for it!
Do you have backup equipment?
I invest in the best Canon gear and have multiple backup camera bodies and lenses that come with me to every wedding and portrait session.
What happens if you can't make it to our wedding?
In all my years of being a wedding photographer, this has never happened, thankfully. If we are faced with this reality, I will reach out to an amazing network of photographers, to see if they can cover for me, although I'm not contractually obligated to. If I can not make your wedding due to unexpected illness or an act of God, I will cry along with you, and then provide a full refund.
We're eloping, can you marry us?
If you need an officiant for your elopement, I'm an ordained minister and can legally preform marriages in the State of Maine. If you don't mind me preforming your ceremony, while also photographing you, I'm more than happy to hold that space for you. I can also recommend some amazing vendors.
What wedding venues are near you?
I'm blessed that I'm surrounded by some amazing Maine wedding venues, some are even in my hometown. The Barn on Walnut Hill is around the corner from my house. I'm ten minutes away from William Allen Farm, Pineland Farms, Smith Farm, Mowfield Farm and Cunningham Farm. Some of my favorite venues are Live Well Farm, Vinegar Hill and the Squire Tarbox Inn.
Are you insured?
Absolutely! I carry equipment insurance as well as full liability insurance. If you need a COI for your venue, I'd be happy to provide one.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept credit cards, debit cards, ACH payments, check and cash. Coverage is divided into separate payments with the balance due 2 weeks before the wedding.
Where are you traveling
I'm currently booking destination weddings in England, Scotland and Ireland. If you are getting married in any of these locations, let's talk!
Step 1
You're ready to book! I'll set up a time for a discovery call to learn more about your elopement/wedding and your coverage needs. Afterwards, I'll send you an online contract and invoice to book your date.
Step 2
When you are ready to book, I'll send you a contract and invoice for your booking fee in an email. Dates are booked first come, first served.
Step 3
Two weeks from your wedding, we will zoom again to discuss the flow of your day. I typically will ask for your rough timeline and will make recommendations of timing based on my experience shooting weddings. Your final balance is due a week before your wedding.
